As a direct result of this, he gained the required ‘hands on’ experience, and became involved in yacht construction, refit and repairs from an early age running a successful repair yard as well as being involved with a custom yacht mast manufacturer and rigging business for over twenty years.
After leaving school a formal background in Mechanical Engineering as well as ship design and construction at Bristol Polytechnic. This practical background in running a vessel repair yard with the commercial experience gained whilst doing so as well as the academic background coupled with an interest in sailing and boats in general as well as restoring small craft developed standards of workmanship and the necessary integrity and professionalism for Yacht Surveying and Marine Loss Adjusting. This requires far more than theoretical knowledge of construction and repair. A firm practical knowledge of materials, their properties and applications is essential, which should be supported by a thorough understanding. There is no substitute for sound theoretical knowledge backed by well over 30 years experience. (Testimonials are available)
